The comedic duo of Alec Baldwin and Steve Martin have agreed to host the 82nd annual Academy Awards, an announcement that comes hot off the heels of denials from Hugh Jackman, Robert Downey Jr. and Ben Stiller. Martin, of course, hosted the show twice before, but this will be Baldwin’s first time as the show’s master of ceremonies.
“The two of them have a fantastic, ongoing comic relationship,” said Oscar co-producer Adam Shankman in an interview with Entertainment Weekly. “And I know that they really adore and respect each other. Plus, I know that they’ll be hilarious.” Continue Reading →

Hector Ruiz, identified last week as one of the sources of inside information in the Galleon hedge fund scandal, resigned Monday from Globalfoundries, a company he helped create when he ran Advanced Micro Devices.
A terse announcement posted on Globalfoundries’ Web site said Ruiz is taking a voluntary leave of absence and will formally depart the company on Jan. 4.
The announcement said he submitted his resignation in September, effective in January. A source familiar with the matter said he decided to leave in January because the company was doing well and to make room for new leadership to take over. Bringing confirmation to previous reports, Mel Gibson and Oksana Grigorieva are proud parents of a baby daughter named Lucia!
“Oksana Grigorieva and Mel Gibson welcomed the arrival of a baby girl named Lucia on Friday, Oct. 30, at an undisclosed hospital in Los Angeles,” Mel’s rep told press.
